Can you say: “Overreaction?”

PUBLIÉ PAR/POSTED BY Xavier R. Dubé LE/ON 02.08.06 @ 1:50 pm |

Oh my, it looks just like we’ve started a new holy war!

No, seriously, look! They’re all after us, pouring in the streets, with anti-Western World signs, burning flags and vowing to boycott every product made in Denmark, Norway, France and I don’t know wherever else…

Now, you’d think that A REAL THREAT to their ways and their religion would spark up such an uproar, and definitely not a petty humorous series of cartoons depicting Mohammed that was recently carelessly published in a Danish newspaper…

That’s the problem I have with the Muslim world. For them, it’s allright and cool to attack every belief and way of thinking existing on the surface of this planet BESIDES THEIRS. If you DARE make fun of THEIRS, they’ll act like you just declared war on them. And they’ll use the cult of self-victimization. But, OF COURSE, they do not feel at all compelled by their incessant attacks on, say, the Jewish religion and Israel! But they can’t adopt such a point of view, all they do will always be good, and all that’s done to them will always be evil. Even if we do exactly unto them what they have done unto us.

And they want US, the entire Western World, to apologize! For some insignificant and humorous cartoons. NO WAY. This time we won’t bow before your pointless rage and your intolerant ways. YOU DID THE SAME TO US. You are going to accept that there are people who think differently on this Earth. Islam is not the ultimate truth. Christianism and Buddhism neither. No religion really is. A religion is what you make of it. And it’s time you realize that. No need to kill or insult any “Western World Infidels” like me, it won’t get you anywhere.

During a discussion I had with him earlier, my father objected that the Islamic fundamentalists acted just like the Christian crusaders in the Middle Ages, so the Western World wasn’t better. I replied that, unlike the Islamic fundamentalists, WE at least didn’t know any better (and couldn’t observe any better ways on Earth at that time) when we started the Crusades. If Islamo-Fascists want to see a better way to live, I’d tell them to have a look at the Western World and start copying its ways.

I’m getting tired of all this.

Where will all this bring us? And when is it going to stop?
