À propos de Keep Right

Keep Right, fondé après de nombreuses et frustrantes tentatives le 28 novembre 2005 à Roberval QC est un blogue politique à saveur conservatrice et libertarienne. Le titre du blogue signifie en français "Gardez la droite", ce qui illustre assez bien le modus operandi de la chose. Keep Right rassemble les multiples textes d'opinion ainsi que les "rants" politiques de son auteur, en l'occurence moi, Xavier R. Dubé. Vous trouverez tout cela dans les deux sections politiques de Keep Right, soit "Politique - Québec/Canada" et "Politique - États-Unis".
J'ai créé Keep Right pour trois raisons. Premièrement, parce que je trouvais qu'il n'y a pas beaucoup de blogues ni de sites WWW de droite bilingues au Québec. Ceux-ci sont en réalité très rares, et ce ne sont pas tous des blogues avec lesquels je suis d'accord politiquement. Quoi de mieux donc que de créer mon propre blogue où je serai libre de tenir les propos que je veux afin d'en faire partager le monde entier? Deuxièmement, j'ai créé KR afin de me pratiquer plus officiellement pour ma future profession. En vérité, le passionné de politique nord-américaine que je suis aspire à devenir un politologue et/ou commentateur politique après ses études universitaires. Troisièmement, j'ai créé KR parce que je ne compte plus les fois où, après avoir lu un texte politique ou entendu une nouvelle quelconque, je ressente le besoin extrême de dire mon opinion à son sujet.
Mais attention, KR ne sert pas seulement à la diffusion d'idées politiques. Je relaterai aussi régulièrement des faits et des choses qui m'arrivent dans ma petite-vie-personnelle-de-tous-les-jours, comme la plupart des blogues appartenant à des individus. Bien des aspects de ma vie seront donc étalés sur KR, dans la section "Divers". Vous pourrez aussi lire des commentaires sur des sujets non reliés à la politique mais sur lesquels je ressens le besoin d'exprimer mon opinion.
Ah oui! J'oubliais. Même si je suis le seul à pouvoir diffuser mes idées politiques et autres sur KR, soyez assurés que vous avez une part de choses à dire vous aussi! En effet, à la fin de la plupart des publications sur KR, vous pourrez laisser un (ou plusieurs) commentaires. J'espère que vous utiliserez à bon escient cette fonctionnalité. De plus, ne vous surprenez pas si vous voyez apparaître des textes ou extraits de textes en anglais sur le blogue. KR est un blogue bilingue, étant donné que j'utilise presque autant l'anglais que le français quand vient le temps de parler de politique.

Salut tout le monde! Je suis l'auteur de ce blogue politique. J'ai 20 ans et j'ai complété un DEC au Cégep de Saint-Félicien en Sciences Humaines à l'automne 2005. Je suis présentement étudiant à l'Université Bishop's (une petite institution anglophone de premier cycle) en Sciences Politiques afin de devenir politologue, (Political Scientist en anglais) commentateur, consultant ou professeur de politique. J'aimerais m'installer aux États-Unis, plus précisément dans les environs de Washington D.C. lorsque mes études seront terminées (mais si c'est au Missouri ou au Tennessee que j'ai une job, je resterai pas les bras croisés ici certain). Je souhaite pouvoir décrocher un doctorat en Sciences Politiques. Je vis présentement en résidence pour étudiants sur le Campus de l'Université Bishop's, à Sherbrooke (arrondissement Lennoxville) depuis le 2 septembre 2006. La ville de Sherbrooke, qui compte presque 160 000 habitants, est située en Estrie, qui est une superbe région du Québec. Depuis un assez jeune âge, je me passionne pour la politique. J'ai aussi une bonne expérience en création et maintien de sites WWW. J'ai décidé de mettre tout ça à profit et de créer Keep Right. Je parle anglais et français (complètement bilingue, sans accent français en anglais et vice-versa. À l'écrit, c'est encore mieux) et j'utilise ces deux langues quotidiennement. Je possède ma propre voiture, une Dodge Spirit 1994 blanche dont vous pouvez voir un aperçu de l'arrière dans l'image ci-dessus. Je collectionne aussi les plaques d'immatriculation de voitures depuis 2001. À part ça, c'est à peu près tout ce que j'ai à dire sur ma personne...
Mon idéologie politique
Quoi de plus important pour un blogueur politique que de dire aux gens qui le lisent sa manière de penser! Je ne crois pas qu'il y a plus important que ça. Oh boy, je sens que ça va être long. Mais, par où commencer? Bon, allons-y avec logique. J'ai créé un blogue conservateur/libertarien, donc je suis sûrement plutôt de droite. Économiquement, je suis absolument de droite. Socialement, je le suis aussi, mais un peu plus nuancé. Mais moralement... pas du tout. Enfin peut-être un peu, il y a mon support inconditionnel de la peine de mort qui pourrait compter comme "moralement de droite", mais c'est à peu près tout. Dans le fond, je suis un peu plus libertarien que conservateur.
Dans le fond, ce que je souhaite, c'est de payer moins d'impôts et de réduire la taille des gouvernements. Avoir moins de services par le fait même, ça va de soi. Mais être plus libres dans nos choix personnels, ne pas avoir l'État dans les jambes pour nous dire quoi faire et (presque) quoi penser. Je préfère un système de santé complètement privatisé à un système de santé 100% public sans alternative possible. Je ne crois pas à l'efficacité de certains programmes sociaux, et aimerais les voir disparaître. La vraie réinsertion/intégration sociale c'est l'entreprise personnelle. Travaillons pour nous au lieu de se faire vivre par le gouvernement. J'aimerais voir les grandes centrales syndicales occuper seulement la place qui leur revient au lieu de toute la place politique, comme au Québec présentement et ainsi vilipender tout progrès économique/industriel et ralentir la société dans son ensemble. Dans le fond, je choisis la liberté de faire ce que je veux avec mon argent durement gagné au lieu du gouvernement qui décide à ma place. Je ne veux pas que le gouvernement me dise comment vivre, comment penser, quoi écouter et quoi faire pour bien vivre. Je suis capable tout seul. Je suis un individualiste. Les droits de l'individu doivent primer, car c'est par lui qu'on développe la société. Je crois que le capitalisme est le meilleur système économique au monde (et non le moins pire comme diraient certains), et que toutes les alternatives connues aboutiront inéluctablement à l'échec. Je suis anti-environnementaliste et contre Kyoto (C'est tellement bâclé comme protocole!), mais je ne peux bien sûr pas être contre l'environnement. Pour qui se prennent-ils pour me dire comment vivre avec leurs dogmes? Je suis pour les droits des gays, pour que les gens se marient avec qui ils veulent, qu'ils choisissent la religion qu'ils veulent, ou pas de religion s'ils n'en veulent pas (comme moi). À part ça, je suis souverainiste (mais pas péquiste) et pro-américain -j'ai toujours été fasciné par les États-Unis et ai toujours voulu aller y vivre- . Je travaille d'ailleurs dans ce sens, tranquillement, pas à pas. Je suis membre en règle du Parti Conservateur du Canada au fédéral, d'aucun parti au provincial (Québec) pour l'instant et si j'étais Américain, j'aurais de la difficulté à décider pour quel parti voter. Tout dépendrait du candidat, je crois. Je suis contre Bush, si vous voulez vraiment savoir, mais je supporterais sans problème certaines de ses politiques. J'appuie la plupart des politiques de Jean Charest au Québec, mais je voterais pour l'ADQ, qui est un peu plus à droite encore. On dirait que plus les grandes centrales syndicales le détestent, plus je suis d'accord avec lui. Je suis contre le Parti Libéral du Canada au grand complet. Je ne voterai JAMAIS pour ce parti qui incarne à la perfection tout ce que je déteste du Canada. Je ne voterai jamais NPD non plus, ils sont trop à gauche pour moi, ultra-centralisateurs, paternalistes, complètement opposés à mes idées et mettraient le pays en faillite s'ils étaient élus. Comme un bon nationaliste, j'ai déjà voté Bloc Québécois en 2004, mais c'est fini, même si je suis souverainiste je crois désormais que le Bloc n'a pas sa place à Ottawa. Enfin, je crois que le Canada n'aurait jamais dû exister séparé des États-Unis et que la frontière divisant les deux pays devrait disparaître au plus vite. Et en attendant cet évènement grandiose, je suis à présent extrêmement content que le Canada ait élu Stephen Harper, le premier ministre actuel et chef du Parti Conservateur du Canada. Je l'appuie ardemment.
Bon, c'est à peu près tout, essayez de déchiffrer tout ça et vous me comprendrez... hmmm, pas facile, hein?

Xavier R. Dubé, author of Keep Right
Keep Right, a website created in Roberval QC on November 28th, 2005 after many numerous and frustrating attempts is a political blog with a prominent conservative/libertarian leaning. Keep Right aims to gather together multiple political essays and rantings written by its author, which is in fact me, Xavier R. Dubé. You'll be able to find those in the political sections of the blog, respectively named "Politics - Québec/Canada" and "Politics - United States".
I've created KR for three reasons. First, because I believe there are not enough bilingual right-wing political blogs and websites in Québec, as those are rather scarce here, and moreover, I don't always agree with what they say politically. So what else could I really do than to create my very own where I will be free to write what I, and only I want for the world to see? Second, I created KR so I could gather some serious experience to help me in my future career. Indeed, the passionate about North American politics individual that I am hopes to become a political scientist, political consultant or maybe a politics teacher after obtaining his university degree. Third, I created KR because I just can't count the times anymore where I'd feel an extreme urge to comment on a newspaper/magazine article or political essay I just read or heard about.
But wait, KR won't only be about sharing political ideas. I will also share things and events that occur in my own little everyday life, just like most blogs belonging to individuals. A lot of my personal life's aspects will therefore be there for you to see on KR, most likely in the "Miscellaneous" section. You'll also be able to read comments on non-politically-related subjects on which I need to express my opinion.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. Even if I'm the only one theoretically allowed to share my beliefs and ideas on this blog, rest assured that you can react to everything I say and tell me how you feel about those things. You can always leave a comment (or many) at the end of pretty much everything I'll post on KR. I hope you'll put this functionality to good use. And don't be surprised to see essays and posts in French on KR. KR is a bilingual blog, as I use both French and English almost equally when it comes to writing about politics.

Hey there folks! I am the author of this political blog. I'm 20 and I completed a College (CEGEP) Diploma in Social Science in the Fall of 2005. I am currently enrolled as a Political Science student at Bishop's University (a very small English-speaking undergrad institution) so I can fulfill my desire of becoming a Political scientist, consultant, commentator or teacher. I'd like to make a living in the United States, more specifically in the Washington D.C. area when I'm older and through with my studies. (however if I get a job in Missouri or Tennessee, I certainly won't sit it out and let that opportunity pass!) I'm aiming for a doctorate in Political Science. For now, I've been living in student residence on Campus at Bishop's University, located in the city of Sherbrooke (borough of Lennoxville) since September 2nd, 2006. Sherbrooke is a city of almost 160,000 inhabitants located in the Eastern Townships, a very beautiful region within the predominantly French-speaking Canadian province of Québec. I've been passionate about politics since I was very young. I have good experience with website designing and webmaster work. I've decided to put it all to good use and create Keep Right. I speak English and French (I am totally bilingual, with no French accent tainting my English and vice-versa. And my writing of both languages is even better) and I do use both every single day. I have my own car, a white 1994 Dodge Spirit of which you can get a glimpse of the rear if you scroll up a little. I've also been collecting automobile license plates since 2001. Well, I think I covered myself pretty well...
My political ideology
I don't know if there's anything more important for a political blogger than actually showing his way of thinking to the people who read him! But if I do this, I'm in for the long haul. Ouch. OK, where to start? Let's use some logical thinking here. I've created a conservative/libertarian blog, so I must be quite a right-wing guy. Economically, no doubt. I am definitely right-wing. Socially, I'm a little more moderate. But I'm still a right-winger. Morally? No. Not at all. Well maybe a little if you think about it since I'm a staunch supporter of capital punishment, but that's pretty much my only moral stance that can be interpreted as a "right-wing position". When you think about it, I'm probably more libertarian than conservative. All things considered, the only things I wish for are to pay less taxes and downsize governments. Getting less services in the process, of course, but having a greater freedom of choice, not having the State telling me what is right or not to do (or think). I prefer a totally privatized healthcare system over a totally socialized one without any possible workarounds. I do not believe in the efficiency of some social programs, and would like to see them abolished. Personal initiative is by far the best way to social integration/reinsertion. Let's work for our own good instead of living off the government. I'd like to see the big worker unions here in Québec occupy their real place for once instead of monopolizing the entire political space to pursue their goals of further undermining all possibilities for economic/industrial progress and slowing down the development of an entire society to a crawl. I choose the freedom of doing whatever I please with my own hard-earned money instead of the government telling me what I can or can't do with it. I don't want the government telling me how to live, what to think, what I can watch or listen to and what to do to "live well". I'm fine on my own. I'm an individualist. Individual rights must always prevail, because no society can exist without individuals. I believe that capitalism is the best economic system in the world (and not the lesser of evils like some say) and that all currently known alternatives will inevitably fail at some point. While I am anti-environmentalist and strongly against the Kyoto Accord, (Gosh that thing is SO flawed!) I obviously can't be anti-environment. Who do they think they are to tell me how to live with their nonsense dogmas? I support gay rights, I support freedom of religion, but I also support freedom FROM religion. An absolute necessity considering I have no religion and want nothing to do with them. Plus, I'm a sovereigntist (but not a Parti Québécois supporter) and very strongly pro-American -I've always been fascinated by the United States of America and I've always wanted to live there- . In fact I'm already, slowly, working to make it happen. I'm a member of the Conservative Party of Canada (Canadian government), for now I'm not a member of any party on the provincial scene (Québec) and if I were American I'd have a very hard time deciding if I'm a Democrat or a Republican. I think my vote then would mostly depend on which candidate I'd like the most. I'm against Bush, if you really want to know, but I would have no qualms supporting some of his policies. I support most of Jean Charest's political actions in Québec, but I would vote ADQ, which is a little more to the right. It seems that the more worker unions hate his policies, the more I agree with what he does. I am against the Liberal Party of Canada as a whole. I will never vote for this party which stands proud for everything I hate of Canada. I will never vote NDP either, they are way too left-wing, they will centralize everything in Ottawa, they have a paternalist attitude, they are diametrically opposed to what I think is best and they'd bankrupt the country if they were elected. Like any good nationalist, I've voted Bloc Québécois in 2004, but it's really over now, I'm through with them, and I have come to realize they have no business in Ottawa at all. Finally, I believe that Canada should never have existed as a separate country from the United States and that the sooner the border vanishes between the two countries the better. And while we wait for this great event to take place, I must say that I'm extremely pleased with the election of Stephen Harper, Canada's actual Prime Minister elect and leader of the Conservative Party of Canada. I support him with all my might.
Well it's about all now, just try and find your way through all this and you'll really "get" me... not going to be an easy task, that's for sure!
